Kolkata: A fire broke out in a plastic factory in West Bengal's Howrah district early on Thursday, a fire department official said.
However, no one was injured in the blaze as the factory was immediately evacuated.
"A fire broke out in a plastic chair factory in Sankrail industrial park around 2 a.m. Some parts of the factory was gutted. It was difficult for the fire fighters to get inside," an official from the Howrah fire control said.
The fire spread quickly as inflammable materials were stored in the premises. A total of 12 fire tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze.
"The fire is largely under control but some pockets inside the factory are still burning. The cause of the fire could not be confirmed yet," the official added.
