New Delhi: The total cases of Covid-19 in India rose to 96.08 lakh with 36,652 new cases in 24 hours, while 90,58,822 people have recuperated from the disease so far pushing the national recovery rate to 94.28 per cent on Saturday, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The total coronavirus cases mounted to 96,08,211 and the death toll climbed to 1,39,700 with the coronavirus virus claiming 512 lives in a span of 24 hours in the country, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The COVID-19 case fatality rate was recorded at 1.45 per cent.

There are 4,09,689 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 4.26 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

COVID-19 tally in Andamans rises to 4,742 with 13 new cases

Thirteen more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, raising the tally in the Union Territory to 4,742, a health department official said on Saturday.

The death toll remained at 61 as no new fatality due to the infection was reported, he said.

Of the fresh cases, five were detected during contact tracing, while eight have travel history, he said.

Fourteen more people were cured of the disease on Tuesday, taking the total number of recoveries in the archipelago to 4,611, the official said.

The Union Territory now has 70 active cases. The Andaman and Nicobar administration has conducted 1,35,951 sample tests for COVID-19 so far, he added.

COVID-19: 596 new cases, 3 deaths in Telangana

Telangana recorded 596 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to over 2.72 lakh while three related fatalities pushed the toll to 1,470.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 102, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 47 and Rangareddy 46 , a government bulletin said on Saturday providing details as of 8 pm on December 4.

As many as8,498 patients are under treatment and59,471 samples were tested on Friday.

Cumulatively, over 57.22 lakh samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was over 1.53 lakh, the bulletin said.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.53 per cent, while it was 1.5 per cent at the national level.

The recovery rate in Telangana was 96.34 per cent, while it was 94.3 per cent in the country.
