New Delhi: In a first of its kind, people across India including the President, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Ministers of States, other politicians, Bollywood actors, and common people came together to thank Covid-19 warriors and other essential services providers to contain the epidemic's spread.
The largest public 'appreciation' exercise in the country witnessed participation of the army, paramilitary forces, Bollywood personalities, television anchors and religious personage clapping and beating utensils at 5 p.m. on Sunday as called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the countrymen on Thursday.
PM Modi had called upon the people to clap or beat utensils for 5 minutes to express their gratitude to the people providing essential services, including sanitation employees, medical professionals, delivery boys, railways, airports, and other transportation department employees and many more, who were serving without caring for their own comfort and safety to contain the coronavirus spread.
The Prime Minister had also appealed people to enforce 'janata curfew' between 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday to break the chain of spread of infection that has claimed over 6 lives and infected over 340 in India.
The coronavirus warriors, like health professionals and others, who are taking care of ailing people and performing their duties of sanitizing Metros, trains and other public facilities in the country's fight against coronavirus.
President Ram Nath Kovind, and First Lady Savita Kovind took part in the exercise of thanking the Covid-19 warriors.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP national Vice President Jay Panda and many other political bigwigs across the nation came out to salute the bravehearts and emergency responders who are working tirelessly to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took to social media to express his gratitude towards the people providing essential services. He shared a video on Twitter and captioned it with an inspiring message.
Coming forward to share his gratitude towards the Covid-19 warriors and other essential services providers, Union Minister Pratap Sarangi shared a video on his Twitter handle. Sarangi is seen beating a gong along with several other people at his residence in Nilagiri of Balasore.
Similarly, BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra also shared a video on his Twitter handle in which he is seen blowing a conch.
People in Ghaziabad came out to their balconies, rang bells and kitchen utensils as a mark of appreciation for the Covid-19 warriors.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik came out to clap and beat the gong as a mark of solidarity to the Covid-19 warriors including healthcare personnel and others who are fighting the coronavirus on the frontline.
Similarly, the State Chief Secy, 5T Secy and Covid-19 spokesman of the State celebrated the selfless service of health workers across India and around the globe who are extending their helping hands to keep all healthy in dire circumstances of Coronavirus pandemic, by holding placards and clapping their hands.
Amid growing concerns over the Coronavirus Pandemic, kids came out to present tokens of love & respect for police in Sambalpur of Odisha during the observance of Janata curfew.

With the number of coronavirus rising, state governments are set to issue orders to allow only essential services in about 75 districts with confirmed Covid-19 cases.
