Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government is all set to pay revised pension from April 1, 2021, as per the recommendation of the 11th Pay Commission.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently confirmed that the State cabinet has already decided to give effect to the pension reforms in retrospective manner from July 1, 2019 based on the 11th Pay Commission recommendations.

"It has been decided to give effect to the pension reforms from July 1, 2019. The pay revision will also take effect from the same date. The revised pension will be paid from April 1, 2021. This also applies to part-time pensioners," PTI quoted Vijayan as saying.

Vijayan said that the Mananthavady District Hospital has been upgraded to a Medical College Hospital, for the time being. Besides, a Medical College will be set up in Wayanad, he said.

According to the news agency, the cabinet has also taken a decision to give the authority to the local bodies to grant permission for construction or reconstruction of a building for religious purposes and worship.

Presently, the permission of the District Collector is required for any such construction, he added.
