Odisha Rain Live Updates: Deep Depression To Weaken Today, Major Rivers In Spate In Odisha

Odisha

The Regional Meteorological Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted that the depression over north Odisha would weaken into a depression today. The Met Centre has issued red warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy (>20cm) rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda and Bargarh on Tuesday.

The East Coast Railways, on Tuesday, has cancelled 12 trains, diverted routes of eight others and short terminated another after a goods train derailed on Angul-Talcher road route on Tuesday due to heavy downpour under the influence of deep depression over the Bay of Bengal.

As Odisha gets battered by heavy rainfall since Sunday with Puri and Bhubaneswar recording all-time high rainfall among others, a portion of ceiling of the Cuttack Chandi Temple in Cuttack collapsed on Monday. The extremely heavy downpour has not only thrown the normal life out of gear but also claimed two lives, so far, in separate wall collapse incidents in the State.
