The Election Commission conducted polling for 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh during seven phases of elections. According to the latest trends, Yogi Adityanath is set for another term as Chief minister as the BJP has now taken lead in more than 250 seats. In the 2017 assembly election, the party had won 312 of the 403 seats on offer.

Pankaj Singh, son of Union Minister Rajnath Singh, who contested from Noida constituency in Uttar Pradesh, won by a margin of 1,79,000 votes.
As per EC, BJP has so far won 4 seats while leading on 244 seats. Samajwadi Party is leading 115 seats, Rashtriya Lok Dal leading in 11 seats.
The improvement in law and order under Yogi Adityanath's government has contributed to BJP's victory in Uttar Pradesh, said Union Minister Anurag Thakur. Speaking to Republic, he further said that the SP, BSP and Congress have been wiped out from the state.
As per the latest trends by Election Commission, the BJP is leading on 247 seats while the SP is leading on 122 out of the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

Early trends in Uttar Pradesh show that the BJP is leading in 109 Assembly constituency seats while Samajwadi Party (SP) leading in 61 seats.
Soon after the counting of votes began today at 8 AM, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra said that the counting of votes is a transparent process, there is a standard operating procedure under which it is conducted and only authorised polling agents of the political parties are allowed to come inside the counting centre.
On EVM tampering questions, he said, "There is no question of EVM tampering. EVMs are continuously used since 2004, in 2019 we have started using VVPAT at every polling booth. EVMs are sealed in the presence of political party agents."
"As many as 31,000 new polling booths were created for the Assembly polls. We created 1,900 polling booths that were run by women & large women participation was seen due to this. In 4 out of 5 states, the percentage of female voters was higher than that of male voters," the CEC told ANI.
