A brutal terror attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese man on April 22, 2025. The terrorists reportedly singled out the victims by asking their religion before opening fire. The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of the banned Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the killing of tourists in Pahalgam, vowing the harshest punishment for those behind the attack. Later, India launched a targeted counter-offensive named Operation Sindoor, striking nine terror hubs located in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Pakistan. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists.
In the aftermath of the operation, Pakistan begged for a ceasefire between the two countries.

Indian Armed Forces begins press briefing on Operation Sindoor
The scheduled conversation between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan will now take place on Monday evening, delayed from the originally planned noon slot for unspecified reasons. The talks come in the aftermath of India's launch of 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7, targeting nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. All Indian military actions since then have been conducted under this operation. On Saturday, both countries agreed to an immediate halt to all hostilities across land, air, and sea, paving the way for dialogue and de-escalation.
