At least three persons were killed after eight wagons of a goods train derailed at Korai station in Bhadrak-Kapilas Road railway section under Khurda Road station of East Coast Railway. Following the derailment, many trains were cancelled, partially cancelled and diverted by the Railways. Rescue operations are still underway at the mishap site.
Train services resumed on the route after the derailment of goods train at Korei station that led to the death of three persons. However, the stoppage of trains at the station has been cancelled for the next 5 days in view of ongoing repair and renovation works.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has partially and fully cancelled many trains and diverted several others following goods train mishap at Korei station in Jajpur district.
So far, five wagons have been cleared from tracks. East Coast Railway has provided free food and water to the stranded passengers in its jurisdiction. Free transportation was also arranged at Haridaspur station.

A mother-daughter duo waiting at Korei station along with minor child to board train to Cuttack died in the mishap. The minor has been admitted to hospital. Meanwhile, Jajpur Additional Collector confirmed about death of another woman in the goods train mishap.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of deceased in Jajpur train mishap. He has also directed the administration to expedite the rescue operations and provide adequate treatment to the injured persons.
Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for kin of the deceased in Korei goods train mishap. Rs 1 lakh each will be provided for the treatment of critically injured persons and Rs 25000 for those who sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
