The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is going to conduct the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2019 (CSP Examination, 2019) on June 2, 2019 while the last date of receipt of applications for the same is March 18 till 6 PM.

Amid the growing confusion over name change and photo identity card, the Commission recently issued a notification for the civil service aspirants.

As per the notification, "A candidate has to fill up his/her name in the Application Form of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2019 (CSP Examination, 2019) as recorded in the School Leaving Board Examination Certificate. The said filled up name will appear in the e-Admit Card. A candidate is also required to upload a scanned copy of his Photo Identity Card issued by the Government. As required, the candidate will need to carry both e-Admit Card as well as the said Photo Identity Card for the Examination."

"For appearing in the CSP Examination, 2019, the Commission has been receiving queries from those candidates, who have changed their names after leaving the School by adopting due process of law including issue of Gazette Notification and have obtained valid Government issued Photo Identity Card in their changed name resulting in different names in the School Leaving Board Examination Certificate and the Photo Identity Card," the notification added.

What candidates need to do?

In the matter, it is hereby clarified for information of such candidates that they must carry along e-Admit Card, Government issued Photo Identity Card and original Gazette Notification of the changed name for the Examination (each Session) for their convenience. It may please be noted that name in the Gazette Notification should match with name mentioned in the Government issued Photo Identity Card. They would also be required to submit an undertaking at the time of the Examination.
