The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will soon kick off the registration process for the civil services preliminary exam. It is expected that the registrations will begin from today enabling candidates to fill applications.

UPSC CSE 2019 Details

Age Limit

Minimum: 21 Years

Maximum: 39 Years

Relaxation in age is there for reserved category.

Exam Pattern

The preliminary exam comprises Paper-I and Paper-II.

Objective type, multiple choice questions - Total 400 marks.

In General studies Paper-II, candidates have to qualify with minimum of 33 per cent marks.

In Paper-I, candidates will get questions from Indian Economy, Science and technology, Geography, History and Culture, Environment and Ecology, Indian Polity and Current events of national and international importance.

Note: Negative marking for every question is one-third of the marks assigned to that question.

Educational Qualification

Degree from an esteemed University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification, to appear in the exam.

The Civil Service Exam is conducted to select candidates to fill administrative positions in different All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS.
