The Southern Railway division of the Indian Railways recently sought applications for several positions under the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix. While application submission began much earlier, the deadline to submit the applications is today- December 23, 2019.

"Applications are invited in the prescribed format from Indian Citizens, for recruitment to posts in Level-2 to Level-5 in 7th P.C. Pay Matrix on Southern Railway, against Sports Quota through Open Advertisement scheme for the year 2019-20," read the official notification.

Sports Quota - 21 Posts: Athletics (Men) 05, Athletics (Women) 02, Chess (Men) 01, Chess (Women) 03, Swimming (Men) 01, Table Tennis (Men) 03, Table Tennis (Women) 04, Weightlifting (Men) 02

Initial Pay Scale: Level -2, Rs 19900, Level -3, Rs 21700, Level -4, Rs 25500, Level-5 Rs 29200

Important to note that there is no reservation for any community such as OBC, SC & ST etc. Candidates applying for more than one Game/Event shall submit separate applications with separate ODs and complete documents for each Game/ Event.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2020): Minimum 18 Years, Maximum 25 Years (born between 02.01.1995 and 01.01 .2002).

Educational Qualification: For posts in Level 2 &3 of 7th P.C Pay Matrix-12th Pass (+2 stage) and for posts in Level 4 & 5 of 7th P.C Pay Matrix- Graduation

General Conditions

Candidates applying should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions at the time of submission of applications.

They should bring their 'original certificates' in support of date of birth, educational qualification, sports achievements and community on the day of trial and interview.

The name of the sport/discipline/athletics/ boxing etc and specific event/category (viz. Backstroke/ Butterfly 100m/55Kg etc.) of player should be mentioned without fail.

Candidates' admission at all stages of the recruitment will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility condition.

Mere issue of call letter to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared.

Candidate should be in readiness to appear for the trials at short notice after the last date of submission of application. They shall attend the trial/interview at the date, time and venue specified by the Railway Administration. Any request for change of date, time and venue will not be entertained.

Candidate will have to make their own arrangements for their travel and stay in Chennai or the place indicated for a few days while attending trial/interview.

Railway Administration reserves the right to alter the stages of recruitment or cancel part or whole of any recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason.

Sportspersons recruited against Sports quota shall execute a " SERVICE BOND" for a period of 5 years. They will have to undergo a probation period of two years.
