The Indian Railways recently announced that it would start conducting examinations for 1.4 lakh posts from December 15 this year. However, some media reports later claimed that the country's largest public transporter has cancelled the exams for some unknown reasons.

It is to inform the candidates that the Railway has not issued any such notification and the news is fake.

'PIB Fact Check' on its verified Twitter handle informed that the news is fake as the railway has not made any such announcement. Check:

Railways CEO V K Yadav had earlier said at a virtual press conference, "We have invited some applications for recruitment in various categories for 1.4 lakh posts. These were notified during the pre-Covid period."

The railway has reportedly received 2.42 crore applications for 1.4 lakh vacancies in various positions.

"Scrutiny of these applications was completed but due to Covid-19 pandemic, a computer-based examination cannot be completed," Yadav had said on the applications received for the vacant positions.

"Railways has decided to start exams for all three categories of vacancies from December 15. A detailed schedule will be announced very soon," the CEO had added.
