Users in India and several other parts of the world faced difficulties accessing micro-blogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday evening, after the social media service experienced a widespread outage. The disruption triggered a surge of complaints from users who were unable to load timelines, post content, or interact on the platform.

According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, reports of the disruption began pouring in rapidly during the evening hours. By around 8.46 pm on Friday, more than 77,000 users globally had flagged issues related to X, with over 6,000 reports originating from India alone. Downdetector monitors service interruptions by gathering data from multiple sources, including real-time feedback submitted by affected users.

Second Time In Same Week

This marked the second major outage for X within the same week. Earlier on Tuesday, users across various regions had reported similar access issues, raising concerns about the platform’s stability and reliability. The repeated disruptions have left users frustrated, particularly those who rely on the service for real-time news updates and professional communication.

During Friday’s outage, Cloudflare — the content delivery network and security provider used by X — appeared to be operating normally. However, Cloudflare was reportedly unable to successfully connect with X’s servers, indicating that the issue likely originated from the platform’s backend infrastructure rather than the security service itself.

An error message displayed to users stated that while Cloudflare continued to protect the website, it encountered problems reaching the web server. The message further explained that if the issue persisted, it was likely due to a problem with the server being accessed. Cloudflare also reiterated its role as a global network focused on enhancing internet security, performance, and reliability.

As of now, there has been no official statement from X detailing the cause of the outage.
