Speaking on India's approach to combat terrorism in a joint press statement with Malaysian Prime Minister in Kuala Lumpur, PM Modi said India remains fully committed to peace while maintaining a zero-tolerance against terrorism. “Our message on terrorism is clear: no double standards and no compromise,” the Prime Minister said, underlining India’s consistent stance on the issue. He added that India and Malaysia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in security, including counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, maritime security and defence collaboration.

PM Modi termed the India-Malaysia relationship “special,” highlighting shared maritime interests, deep cultural linkages, and a common commitment to democratic values. He also reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism, stressing “no double standards, no compromise.”

During delegation-level talks in Kuala Lumpur, the two leaders exchanged 11 documents and announced key initiatives across multiple sectors.

Agreements covered areas including audio-visual co-production, disaster management, corruption prevention, UN peacekeeping cooperation, semiconductor development, the International Big Cats Alliance, social security, vocational education, security cooperation, and health and medicine.

Major initiatives announced included the establishment of an Indian Consulate General in Malaysia, the creation of a dedicated Thiruvalluvar Centre at Universiti Malaya, and Thiruvalluvar Scholarships for Malaysian nationals. The countries also agreed on cross-border payments cooperation between NIPPL and Malaysia’s PAYNET, and signed an MoU between the University of Cyberjaya and India’s Institute of Training and Research in Ayurveda.

This marks PM Modi’s third visit to Malaysia and his first since bilateral ties were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024.
