US President Donald Trump has said that the United States is prepared to support Iran as widespread protests sweep the country, calling the moment one in which Iranians are witnessing “freedom” like never before. In a post on Truth Social on Saturday (local time), Trump stated that the US stands ready to help the Iranian people.
Trump also reshared a message from Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who backed Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statement expressing US support for Iranian protesters. Graham said the US would not remain silent in the face of repression by Iran’s leadership and warned the regime that its actions against citizens would not go unanswered.

Earlier, Trump said Washington was closely monitoring the situation and warned Iranian authorities against using deadly force. He said that if protesters were killed, the US would respond forcefully, though not with ground troops. Trump described the protests as remarkable, saying Iranians were pushing back after years of mistreatment.
The demonstrations, which began over economic hardships, have grown into a nationwide movement demanding an end to the Islamic Republic and have spread to more than 100 cities, according to media reports.
Iran’s Attorney General has warned that protesters would be treated as “enemies of God,” a charge punishable by death. Meanwhile, exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has urged nationwide strikes and mass protests, calling on citizens to reclaim public spaces as tensions continue to rise.
