President Murmu, PM Modi, Odisha CM and other leaders greet citizens on Diwali

As India began Diwali festivities, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and several national leaders extended warm greetings.

On Monday, as India began Diwali festivities with joy and devotion, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and several national leaders extended warm greetings, asking citizens to embrace harmony, compassion, and the sustainable celebration of the festival of lights.

In a message shared on X, President Murmu said, “On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians, both in India and across the world.”

President Murmu described the festival as a symbol of the “triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.” The President also called upon citizens to use the occasion for self-reflection and self-improvement, and to support the deprived and needy, spreading joy and compassion.

Urging everyone to celebrate responsibly, she added, “May this Diwali bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Diwali message, extended greetings and wished that “this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity,” while expressing hope that “the spirit of positivity prevail all around us.”

Vice President C P Radhakrishnan extended his “warm greetings and hearty wishes to all Indians and friends of India, both in the country and abroad,” on the sacred festival.

Odisha Leaders Wish Citizens

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also conveyed his Diwali wishes, writing on X, “On the occasion of Deepavali, I extend greetings and congratulations to the people of the state, along with wishing happiness, peace, and prosperity to all.”

BJP National Vice President and MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda too joined in the festive wishes, stating, “Heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all fellow countrymen on the sacred festival of Diwali. May this grand festival of lights bring happiness, peace, and prosperity into your life, and illuminate every home with the light of joy.” He prayed for the victory of righteousness over evil and hoped that “every day brings new energy and new hope.”

Across India, homes, temples, and streets began shimmering with diyas and decorations since Sunday as devotees offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity.
