Kendrapara on Monday transformed into a hub of celebration, with streets bustling with energy, colors, and lights as the much-awaited Gajalakshmi Puja commenced today at the famous Tulsi Kshetra, drawing devotees and locals alike to witness the grand festivities.

The celebrations began with the Kalash Yatra, a traditional procession marking the start of the puja. In the evening, rituals are being performed in various puja mandaps, following age-old customs.

Key ceremonies included Chakshudaan (eye-opening of the idol), Prana Pratishtha (infusion of life), Nyasa, Jivan Daan, and the Shodasha Upacharas, which were carried out meticulously by the priests.

Devotees actively participated in these rituals, seeking the blessings of Goddess Gajalakshmi for wealth, prosperity, and well-being.

This year, the puja is organised in 68 mandaps within Kendrapara city, while in the surrounding areas, over 100 mandaps have begun celebrations dedicated to the goddess. The grandeur of these celebrations highlights the community’s devotion and the city’s cultural vibrancy.

The seven-day festival promises a series of religious, cultural, and social events, with locals and visitors coming together to celebrate the goddess. Authorities have also taken steps to ensure smooth arrangements, including crowd management and security measures, allowing devotees to participate in the festivities safely.

The commencement of Gajalakshmi Puja at Tulsi Kshetra marks an important cultural moment for Kendrapara, showcasing Odisha’s rich tradition and the community’s enduring faith in Goddess Gajalakshmi.
