Assamese sisters Ankita and Antara Nandy are taking over the internet one song at a time but this time they made it more special for all Odias, far and near their home state. Recently, the duo tapped into Sambalpuri folk music and the internet can’t stop talking about it.

Dressed in Sambalpur sarees accessorized with Odissi dance ornaments and tribal headgears, the sisters strummed their ukulele to Sambhalpuri folk songs – Dalkhai Re and Rangabati in their latest Balcony Concert episode (No 21). From their fusion Odia look to their melodious recreation of the two most iconic folk songs of the state, the music cover has left netizens swooning over them.

Despite not knowing Odia language, their rendition of these two songs was crisp in terms of pronunciation and diction.  However, this is not the first time the sisters are going viral on the internet. Their music covers have made it to the trending charts in the past a number of times as well. Each cover is unique and different from the other episode.

Ankita and Antara started a series of ‘Balcony Concerts’ to keep their viewers entertained during the lockdown. The singers hold their own concerts from the balcony and make viewers’ day a little brighter without having to walk out of their house.
