Ever since it was announced that Kantara fame Rishab Shetty will portray the legendary Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sandeep Singh’s The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, fans have been buzzing with excitement. The film has been touted as a grand tribute to the valour and vision of the great Maratha warrior who laid the foundation of Swarajya.

As cinephiles eagerly await more official updates, a new report has revealed that Vivek Oberoi will be joining the cast as the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

According to an exclusive report by Zoom, Vivek Oberoi has been roped in to play Aurangzeb and will lock horns with Rishab Shetty’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The report quoted a source close to the development as saying, “Vivek Oberoi has been roped in to play Aurangzeb opposite Rishab Shetty’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sandeep Singh’s upcoming historical epic, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The casting brings together two powerhouse performers for what promises to be a deeply impactful retelling of one of India’s most iconic chapters.”

The source further added that The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will depict the incredible journey of the Maratha king- showcasing his courage, strategic brilliance, and unwavering devotion to establishing Swarajya. The film aims to inspire viewers through a powerful retelling of Shivaji Maharaj’s life and leadership.

For the unversed, acclaimed actress Shefali Shah will be seen essaying the role of Jijamata, the revered mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film is currently in the production stage and is slated for a grand release on January 21, 2027.
