Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma on Monday were blessed with a baby girl.

Virat took to Twitter to share the news with everyone. He wrote, "We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time."

Soon after the Ace Cricketer made the announcement, congratulatory messages started pouring in for the new parents.

BCCI also congratulated the couple.

Former cricketer and captain of India's national women's cricket team Anjum Chopra congratulated the proud parents.

Within a few minutes, the post garnered massive likes, and retweets.

Earlier on Tuesday, Anushka Sharma tagged herself as a serial chiller in a new picture she shared on social media.

The actress posted a picture on Instagram, where she is seen lying next to her pet dog Dude on the floor.

"Serial chillers in the house (dog emoji)+(heart emoji)," she wrote as caption.

In August, actor Anushka Sharma on Thursday announced that she is expecting her first child with cricketer husband Virat Kohli. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2017, took to Twitter to share the news, alongside their picture, showing Anushka's baby bump. "And then, we were three! Arriving January 2021," the 32-year-old actor tweeted.

Kohli returned home from Australia after taking part in three ODIs, three T20Is and first Test of the ongoing four-match series.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently tied at 1-1, with the final Test slated to begin from Friday at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Kohli is expected to be seen in action next against England, who will be touring India for a full-fledged tour, comprising four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs, beginning February 5.
