Vinod Khanna and Feroz Khan were one of the topmost Bollywood celebrities who captured millions of hearts. In the Tinseltown of India where relations grab the headlines more for enmity than friendship, theirs was a bonding that stood the test of time.

Interestingly, even death honored their bond as both died on 27th April and that too of Cancer. Today on the birth anniversary of Vinod Khanna, we remember their endearing bond which gave some of the biggest hits to Bollywood

Vinod Khanna Feroz Khan Friendship Began in 1976 On Sets of Shankar Shambhu

While fans can never forget their pairing in Qurbani and Dayavan, the two met for the first time on the sets of Shankar Shambu released in 1976. In this movie, Vinod Khanna played Shambhu whereas Feroz played Shankar. Next, the two worked in Qurbani which was one of the biggest movies of the 80s.

Shockingly at the peak of his career, Vinod Khanna left the film industry to join Osho Rajneesh's commune. For around five years and more, Vinod was away from the film industry and everyone including his family and friends.

But when he returned to Bollywood, it was Feroz Khan who ensured that his good friend makes a strong comeback. Directed by Feroz Khan, Dayavan, a remake of Mani Ratnam's Nayakan became a big hit and marked the return of Vinod Khanna.

On 27th April 2009, Feroz Khan died at the age of 69 due to lung cancer. Vinod Khanna and Dharmendra visited the famous producer-actor-director in Bengaluru before his death. Around 8 years later, on 27th April 2017, the Amar of Amar Akbar Anthony breathed his last at the age of 70. He was suffering from bladder cancer.

Late Rishi Kapoor who worked in big hits like Chandni with Vinod Khanna wrote in his Twitter message, "Strange coincidence. Friends Vinod Khanna and Feroz Khan die the same day 27th April. Khan Sahab passed away 27th April 2009 Bangalore."

After Vinod's death, Feroz Khan's son actor Fardeen shared details about the bond that his father shared with the Muqaddar Ka Sikandar actor.

Fardeen Khan said, "I just knew Vinod uncle as one of my father's best friends and I used to see them together all the time as they did three films together. There was always great warmth between them. I never saw him a star but as my father's best friend because I was so young then."

Vinod Khanna acted in around 76 movies and even worked as a cabinet minister when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister in 2002.
