Vijay Sethupathi is all geared up to play legendary Sri Lankan turner Muttiah Muralitharan in the latter’s biopic. The film is jointly produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Dar Motion Pictures. The actor announced the film today with an official poster featuring the cricketer in a bowling stance.

However, the makers have refrained from unveiling any other details. Directed by MS Sripathy, the film is based on the life and struggle of cricketing legend Muralitharan. The film is reportedly titled 800; referring to the number of wickets the veteran skipper has taken in his Test cricket career.

Over the last 10 years, Vijay Sethupathi has emerged as the face of a new wave in Tamil cinema, where his offbeat characters and film choices has made him one of the country's most coveted performers.

It was rumoured that the Tamil superstar had been taking lessons from the Sri- Lankan cricketer himself some time back and in an earlier interview, he had stated how happy he was to have been associated with the iconic bowler.

He said, "I am happy to be associated with the Muttiah Muralitharan biopic. He is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin and someone who has made his mark across the world. Portraying the role of Murali is going to be a challenge for me and I am looking forward to it."
