Unsolved Mystery of Sridevi's Death: Murder, Alcohol or Low BP?

Mysterious deaths, suicides, and murders are not new to Bollywood. Surprisingly, despite being high profile celebrities, the mystery of the deaths of some big stars like Divya Bharti, Sridevi, and now Sushant Singh Rajput has remained unsolved.

When Sridevi died on 24th February 2018, it was a big shock to the entire nation. At that time, the actress was in Dubai to attend the wedding of a close family member. While her daughter Khushi and her husband Boney Kapoor returned to Mumbai, Sridevi remained in Dubai all by herself in Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

What Happened On That Fateful Evening When Sridevi Was Found Dead in Bathtub?

After leaving Khushi in Mumbai and completing a meeting in Lucknow on 22nd February, Boney Kapoor returned to Dubai to surprise Sriji. On that fateful evening, Boney Kapoor hence was with the Indian superstar in the suite. The two were supposed to go out for dinner. But before going out, Sridevi decided to take a dip in the bathtub.

For a long time, she did come out of the bathroom. That is when Boney Kapoor knocked on the door repeatedly but failed to get any response. Since Sridevi had not locked the door, an anxious Boney went inside the bathroom. He found out that the tap water was running in the bathtub while Sridevi lay immersed in it from head to toe.

The circumstantial evidence suggested that her death was sudden. The absence of water drops outside her bathtub indicated that Sridevi did not even struggle a bit or made a splash.

Traces of Alcohol Were Found in Sridevi's Body During Autopsy in Dubai

Since her death was suspicious, Dubai authorities decided to conduct an autopsy. The officers conducting the autopsy found traces of alcohol in her alcohol. Immediately the Dubai media started reporting that she died by drowning in a bathtub under the influence of alcohol. The autopsy report also concluded the same and added that loss of consciousness led to her drowning in the bathtub.

Leading filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma who earlier worked with the Indian superstar said that her death was most likely a combination of heart stroke-induced accidental drowning death in the tub. He further added that medications might have played a role in her death. RGV believed that Sriji was unhappy and insecure and took medicines that might have led to her death.

She Had Low Blood Pressure Issues-Chaalbaaz Director Pankaj Parashar

According to Deccan Chronicle, Nagarjuna and Pankaj Parashar also had said earlier that the actress suffered from low blood pressure and would often faint in the bathroom. Niece of the Mom actress Maheswari also confirmed that she had seen Sridevi faint in the bathroom.

Even Boney Kapoor stated that Sridevi many times collapsed while walking due to low blood pressure issues. The question still lingers as to how a 5 feet 7 inches tall person can drown in a bathtub of 5 feet 1 inch. That is why many believe that she did not die a natural death but was murdered.
