After facing severe backlash for making controversial comments on the backdrop of Pulwama terror attack, the makers of The Kapil Sharma Show have decided to replace Navjot Singh Sidhu as the judge of the comedy show.

As per reports, Sony TV has already lined up a replacement for the former Indian cricketer and the comedy show team has reportedly shot its two upcoming episodes with Archana Puran Singh in place of Sidhu.

Archana who is best known for her role as a judge in premier shows like Sony's Comedy Circus has confirmed about the development.

Speaking to ANI, Archana said that she shot 2 episodes for Kapil Sharma's show on 9 & 13 Feb. However, she added that she has been told that those episodes were shot for temporary replacement of Navjot Singh Sidhu. The episodes are yet to be telecast.

Reacting to the media in the wake of terrorist attack in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir which claimed lives of more than 40 CRPF jawans recently, Sidhu said that he condemned the darstardly act but it should not make an entire nation responsible.

“For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished," Sidhu had said.

However, the statements did not go down well with a large section of people. Reacting strongly to the comments, Twitterati went explosive with some even posting tweets that they would boycott The Kapil Sharma Show if Sidhu is not ousted from the programme.

It may be noted that Sidhu's presence during Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan's swearing-in-ceremony sparked huge controversy.
