Thalapathy Vijay's Master has achieved historic success at the box-office. This success was very much essential for the revival of the movie industry which suffered huge losses due to the lockdown during the corona pandemic.

Master's success has positively influenced the South Indian film industry as producers who earlier were eyeing OTT release to cover up for their losses are now thinking of dropping the plan. Thalapathy Vijay's Masterstroke has given these filmmakers the confidence that the audience is ready to go to theaters despite corona still lurking around.

Also, with the availability of the vaccine, the probability of more people choosing theaters over OTT to watch movies has increased.

Movies Giving Miss to OTT and Opting For Theaters Post Super Success of Thalapathy Vijay's Master

Before the release of Vijay's Master around a month ago, many leading filmmakers were toying with the idea of releasing their movies on OTT as they were not sure of the audience response for a theatrical release.

These movies include:

  • Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna's Sulthan
  • Vishal's Chakra
  • Dhanush's Jagame Thandiram
  • Sivakarthikevan's Doctor
  • Sasikumar's MGR Magan and Raja Vamsam
  • Vijay Sethupathi's Maamanithan and Laabam
  • Samudrakani's Vellai Yaanai
  • Santhanam's Paris Jayaraj and Dikkiloona

Now the scenario has changed. Filmmakers are now planning to drop the idea of OTT and opt for theatrical release instead. And the first flick in this category is Chakra.
