Disha Vakanai who played the character of Dayaben on the hit comedy serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for more than a decade is currently on a hiatus. She has been away from the serial for almost three years and there seem to be no reports on her comeback.

Earlier reports indicated that the producer of the show Asit Kumar Modi approached her to return to the show but failed to convince Disha Vakani. Now latest reports say that the actress who made the role of Dayaben iconic on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is eager to make a comeback.

But she is not doing so because the producer is not willing to pay her the hefty amount she is demanding.

Taarak Mehta  Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Disha Vakani Demanding 1.5 Lakh per Episode

Disha Vakani went on maternity leave almost three years ago. Fans expected her to make a comeback in a year or so. Even producers were sure of her return and hence they never replaced Disha with a new actress as they have done in the case of the other characters.

But they were not expecting Disha to suddenly raise her remuneration for making a comeback. Earlier Disha used to get Rs.1.25 lakh per episode for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. But now she is demanding a hike of Rs.25,000 and wants the producers to pay her Rs.1.5 lakh per episode.

However, Asit Kumar Modi does not seem to be in the mood to increase her remuneration as the show suffered huge losses during the corona pandemic. The shooting was stopped for a couple of months which greatly affected the show's producer.

While the team does want Disha Vakani to once again reprise the role of Dayaben, if she does not cut down her demand, they may have to start seeking her replacement.

Many other actors from the show like Bhavya Gandhi, Neha Mehta, and Gurucharan Singh who had been playing the characters of Tappu, Anjali Mehta, and Sodhi respectively have now been replaced after these actors left the show.
