Few films have etched themselves into India’s collective memory like JP Dutta’s Border. Released in the late 1990s, the war epic didn’t just narrate a battle, it captured the emotions, sacrifices and unbreakable bonds of Indian soldiers guarding the nation’s frontiers. Even today, the mesmerising notes of “Sandese Aate Hain” are enough to bring tears to countless eyes. Nearly three decades later, that legacy is set to return, as Border 2 prepares to reignite those patriotic emotions.
Actor Sunny Deol, who played one of the most iconic soldier roles in Border, expressed deep excitement about returning to familiar territory. Speaking at the event of Border 2, Deol said the uniform itself brings a powerful emotional charge.
“Whenever you wear the uniform, there’s an excitement. You start feeling like a soldier,” he said. “We may not train like real soldiers, but the emotions are the same. Ninety-nine per cent of the strength to play the role comes from wearing that uniform.”
