“Munna Bhai MBBS” was the movie that gave Sanjay Dutt’s dying career a new life. It also brought into the limelight the struggling actor Arshad Warsi who could not make quite an impact through his earlier ventures. After coming out with two movies, the team of Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani turned their attention towards working with other stars and gave out some massive hits like “3 Idiots,” “PK,” and “Sanju.”

Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently released “Shikara” based on the struggle of Kashmiri Pandits depicting how they were forced to leave the Kashmir Valley. Chopra has been producing a lot of big hits with Hirani as the director. However, after a gap of long years, the director and producer of the superhit movie “Parinda” decided to go behind the camera for “Shikara.”

For Chopra, it was a very tiring journey and hence now he is looking up to producing something that brings more joy and laughter. Recently during the press conference of “Shikara” Chopra said, “I have been wanting to do ‘Munna Bhai‘from a long time. Now finally, we have something that I would want to do.”

Next Munnabhai Will Be With Sanjay Dutt, Says Chopra

The first movie from the Munna Bhai franchise “Munna Bhai MBBS” was released in 2003 followed by the second instalment “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” in 2006. Both the films starred Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi and were directed by Rajkumar Hirani. So when it comes to Munna Bhai it is difficult to imagine anyone doing that role as Sanjay Dutt has simply owned that character.

So when asked whether he would like the same cast and the team back, Chopra said that if Munna Bhai 3 happens it will be only with Sanjay Dutt and hopefully will also include all the others who were a part of the earlier team which means Arshad Warsi as well. The producer-director does not have any tentative date in mind for the release.
But he did say that they have the right idea about how the movie should turn out and will start working on the same from 10th February onwards.
