Movies are all about heroes and showbiz is a man’s world, goes the popular opinion but the South film industry and its audience choose to defy it. Hero or no hero, Samantha Akkineni, Nayanthara, and Anushka Shetty can start a queue at the box office with their movies. With the newcomers and Bollywood stars joining the South showbiz race, these lady superstars still hold their fort strong. But who will emerge victorious from the clash take a look -

Samantha Akkineni

Sam’s debut along with Chaitanya Akkineni hit the theatres exactly ten years back. In this duration of the decade, she has established herself as a versatile actor from romance, comedy to the drama she can do it all. Her screen presence can’t be ignored and over time her choice of films has established herself an actor class apart. She is now ready to go Pan –India with The Family Man. As usual she is will be seen in a unique shade as she is playing the villain who will be the mastermind of a cat and mouse chase with Manoj Bajpayee. Will  she be able to cast her magic across the country as well, we will have to see.

Nayanthara

The only South Indian female actor to have made it to the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list, Nayanthara is dubbed as South’s lady superstar by fans and critics alike with back-to-back Filmfare awards to her credit. She is the highest-paid South Indian actress ever, with a minimum of Rs 10 crore per film. She even slammed the haters by single-handedly carrying Aramm where she played an IAS officer. Nayan will be back again with Annaatthe opposite Rajinikanth and Netrikaan where she plays a blind woman which will be led by her without any male actor. Seems like the lady superstar knows how to stay ahead of the competition.

Anushka Shetty

With a number of female-led movies that have rocked the box office, Anushka Shetty proved that she is herself enough to hook the audience to their seats. Bhaagamathie, Arundhati, Rudhramadevi – Sweety’s performance has been praised by the audience and critics alike. With Bahubaali, she became a nationwide sensation just like Prabhas. But over some time, her box office magic is missing maybe due to her OTT releases. Her last film as a mute pianist in Silence tanked. But her upcoming next Ponniyin Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam, also stars Aishwarya Rai which already signal’s that it is going to be a huge film. The film is a period drama which is Shetty’s forte so it looks like Sweety is soon going to get back in the game along with Nayanthara and Samantha Akkineni.
