The ‘Look Older’ Narrative

This isn’t the first time such claims have circulated. Older reports and trade whispers - going back to around 2012 and revived in later years - suggested some actors were reluctant to pair with Sonakshi because they felt she looked older than her co-stars.

Pallavi Sharda Locked as Lead Lady

Ultimately, Pallavi Sharda was locked as the lead lady, opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Besharam. However, the movie bombed at the box office. Though the movie had a strong opening, it received negative reviews for its script and performances.

Sonakshi’s Perspective and Industry Context

Sonakshi herself has, on occasions, recalled being turned down for roles and has talked about how perceptions about appearance affect casting - a reality many actresses face. Whether the discomfort Ranbir reportedly felt was about on-screen chemistry, age perception, or something else has not been publicly clarified by Ranbir himself, leaving room for interpretation and caution before drawing conclusions.
