Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali have worked together in multiple movies. Although all their ventures have not been always successful, there has been a creative aspect to all these projects which have managed to get at least a good response from the audience who love to try out something different. Be it the duo’s “Rockstar” which was a tremendous hit or “Tamasha” that also did pretty well, there was a genuine effort in all these projects to do something good and novel.

Previous Failures Have Made Ranbir Cautious

It was good news for Ranbir-Imtiaz fans when they announced a new project together. At the time when both of them were discussing the third project together; Imitiaz Ali was still recovering from the massive debacle of his Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer “Harry Meets Sejal” while the “Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani” actor was worried about his place in the industry post-failure of “Jagga Jasoos.”

Both of them were reeling from major flops and were looking for a major hit. Rajkumar Hirani’s “Sanju” did wonders for Ranbir who got the success he was looking for whereas Imtiaz Ali is still looking out for a hit to bounce back as a successful director.

At present, he is directing Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan in “Love Aaj Kal,” a sequel to his own venture that earlier had Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead. Ranbir has gone through a rough patch for a long time with even a Karan Johar’s “E Dil Hai Mushkil” failing to pull him out of the crisis.

So, that may be the reason he has pulled out of Imtiaz Ali’s movie citing creative differences. But it is a big loss to movie fans because the duo has always given something new and unique, a real freshness to the screen that is very rare in this modern age that mostly thrives on potboilers.
