The story contradicts the reality of Mirzapur
The web series named after one of the cities in Uttar Pradesh is full of violence, fights, and criminal activities with the mafia as the backdrop. However in reality, Mirzapur is a very peaceful city and this fictional depiction of the city in the web series is far away from reality.
Ali Fazal’s improvisation changed the scene
Guddu aka Ali Fazal is an important part of this series. In the first episode, Guddu beats and breaks his cycle. According to the script, Guddu had to only throw his cycle on the road. But while doing this shot, Ali Fazal got so carried away that he simply broke the cycle in frustration. This impressed the directors and they as an extension also added a cycle repairing shop in the series instantly.
Divyendu Sharma was first offered the role of Bablu
The role of Bablu later on played by Vikrant Massey so impressively was first offered to Divyendu Sharma. He already had started preparing for the role but when during a reading session the directors asked his opinion about the role of Munna, Divyendu said that he was more interested in the character of Munna than Bablu and that is how Vikrant Massey came into Mirzapur web series.
Pankaj Tripathi changed the approach of his character Kaleen Bhaiyya
One of the most important characters of this web series is Kaleen Bhaiyya or Akhandanand Tripathi played by Pankaj Tripathi. When the directors narrated the script and story of the web series to Pankaj, the character of Kaleen Bhaiyya though very powerful was abusive and quite violent. However, the famous actor was of the opinion that if they want to show Kaleen Bhaiyya as a powerful man, he must speak less and do more. The makers accepted this suggestion and that is how Pankaj Tripathi played a key role in shaping the iconic character of Kaleen Bhaiyya.
Names of the shops are the real names of the crew
There are many shops and boards that the audience can see in the backdrop during the screening of Mirzapur. Funnily enough, the names on these boards and shops are based on the names of the crew of Mirzapur. In one particular episode wherein Maqbool stands in front of a lassi shop holding a gun, the audience can see the shop's name as Guru Lassi Shop which is based on the name of the director-Gurmmeet Singh.
