Dharampal Gulati, the owner of the spice brand, MDH, passed away today morning after suffering a cardiac arrest in New Delhi. Mahashay Dharampal Gulati, popularly known as the ‘MDH uncle’, ‘Masala King’, Dadaji’, or ‘King of Spices’ was the founder of MDH (Mahshian Di Hatti), one of India’s biggest spice brand.
A fifth-grade school drop-out, Gulati made his father’s small shop into an international brand and became a success that still inspires aspiring entrepreneur stories across the country.
Most of the younger generation might remember his cameo in various advertisements of MDH with the iconic jingle “asli masale sach sach”. The netizens were saddened by the demise news and took to Twitter to express their condolences, tributes poured in from different parts of the world as well.
