Mouni Roy
As Diwali lights up homes across the country, actor Mouni Roy is choosing to celebrate a little differently this year — by spreading light to Mumbai’s rescued animals through an initiative close to her heart: Play for Paws, in collaboration with Animals Matter To Me (AMTM), one of India’s leading animal welfare NGOs.
The campaign, running from October 20th–23rd, invites people to join a new kind of celebration — one that’s joyful, interactive, and gives back.
Through Play for Paws, anyone can visit playforpaws.amtmindia.org, pick a rescue dog being cared for by AMTM, and “fill their bowl” with a small contribution that goes directly toward food, medical care, and shelter.

Every night, one top donor and one random participant receive symbolic thank-you gifts from AMTM’s partner brands — celebrating kindness in a playful, inclusive way.
“Play for Paws isn’t just a campaign — it’s a small movement of joy,” says Mouni Roy.
“Animals have given me so much love over the years. This Diwali, I wanted to create something that lets all of us give back — not with guilt, but with happiness.”
A New Model for Giving Back
While Play for Paws began as a festive campaign, its larger mission is to build sustainable support for AMTM’s growing network of sanctuaries and animal welfare programs.
Funds raised go toward expanding the AMTM Animal Haven in Kolad, Raigad, an open, two-hectare hillside sanctuary and hospice that currently houses over 250 rescued animals — dogs, cats, cows, pigs, and geese — many of whom cannot survive on the streets.
AMTM’s flagship Malad sanctuary and hospital in Mumbai also continues to grow, now featuring a boutique stay, CSR day camps, and animal-assisted therapy and education programs designed to help people and animals heal together.
“Our vision is to create a self-sustaining circle of compassion,” says Ganesh Nayak, Founder of AMTM.
“Every stay, every workshop, every bowl filled contributes directly to the lives of animals that call AMTM home.”
