JioHotstar has officially announced its next psychological thriller, Mrs. Deshpande, with Madhuri Dixit-Nene in one of the boldest and most unconventional roles of her career.

In a gripping sequence, she slowly removes her jewellery, wipes off her makeup, and sheds every symbol of her screen royalty. The final shot reveals her in a simple white outfit—raw, unmasked, and intense. The unsettling quiet of her new look hints at the deeply psychological and emotionally layered journey the series aims to explore.

A Dark, Gripping Premise Driven by Nagesh Kukunoor

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor—acclaimed for Iqbal, Dor, and City of Dreams—Mrs. Deshpande is reportedly inspired by a popular French series. Madhuri essays the role of a convicted serial killer enlisted by the police to assist in tracking down another dangerous fugitive.

Her character offers insight into the mind and methods of the killer they’re hunting, setting the stage for a tense, psychological cat-and-mouse narrative filled with moral ambiguity and dark revelations.
