Teaser of the most awaited flick- KGF Chapter 2 released on January 7 and has broken several records garnering over 151 Million views and over 7.5 million likes so far.
Hombale Films' upcoming movie is probably going to be one of the biggest films hitting theaters in the pandemic era. Considering the response towards the movie's teaser, it won't be a surprise if it becomes the highest grossing Indian film beating Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. However, the makers seem to be in trouble for the 'iconic' smoking scene featuring Yash in the teaser.
Yash starrer KGF Chapter 1 was a big hit and the Kannada star went on to become popular worldwide grabbing attention of movie lovers across the globe. Anticipation for the second installment somehow pacified with the release of the teaser. The teaser showed few glimpses of its star cast including Sanjay Dutt as Adheera, Raveena Tandon as Ramika Sen and Rocking Star Yash as Rocky Bhai.
Adheera was seen with a sword while Ramika Sen's influence can easily be judged from the teaser. Apart from others, Yash was seen with a machine gun and blowing off a row of jeeps and finally lighting up his cigarette from the red hot barrel of the gun. Fans of Yash and movie lovers went into frenzy with the spectacular scene featured in the teaser and lauded the makers as well as the Rocking Star for the iconic scene.
However, this scene didn't go well with the Karnataka State Anti-Tobacco Cell and Health Department. The scene recently witnessed objections from The Health Department.
According to The Indian Express, the Karnataka State Anti-Tobacco Cell said that the visuals showing the actor smoking, violated Section 5 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) Act, 2003 following which the department decided to seek deletion of the teaser from online platforms.
On the other hand, the Karnataka Health Department has also appealed to Yash to remove the problematic scenes from the teaser and film.
"Yash is into social work, and I admire him a lot. The Health Department has made an appeal to him about his upcoming film. The department officials have asked Yash to remove a smoking scene in the film," The Indian Express quoted the Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar as saying.
Owing to the young fan base of the actor, Sudhakar feels that this is important for all and is applicable to all his films.
Meanwhile, a letter objecting to the visuals in the forthcoming film’s teaser has been sent to the film’s director Prashant Neel, actor Yash, and producer Vijay Kiragandur. According to the notice, it is mandatory to display the statutory warning, “Smoking is injurious to health” warning on the screen if they decide to showcase such scenes in the film or teaser.
However, the makers as well as the star cast of the movie haven't yet reacted to it.
KGF Chapter 2 starring Yash in the lead role will show his faceoff with main antagonist Adheera which is portrayed by Sanjay Dutt. Fans will witness Rocky Bhai's empire and his tough clash with Adheera as well as Ramika Sen.
