When Yash's KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) Chapter 1 was being made no one thought that it would become such a big pan India hit. The budget for this original Kannada movie was very low and hence the makers had no qualms when it came to selling the Hindi rights to Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's production house-Excel Entertainment.

Excel Entertainment quoted a very low amount for this Yash movie released in 2018. But the success of KGF Chapter 1 has changed the budget as well as the distribution value of KGF Chapter 2.

Excel Entertainment Paid Huge Amount To Buy KGF Chapter 2's Hindi Rights

The first installment from the KGF franchise was a big hit with Yash's Rockybhai emerging as the pan India icon. Keeping in mind the huge expectations of the fans for the sequel, the director Prashanth Neel also decided to expand the budget and canvas for KGF Chapter 2.

That is why he roped in big Bollywood names like Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon to play critical roles in the flick. Sanjay Dutt's first look as Adheera-the lead antagonist has already enhanced the hype for the sequel further.

According to Bollywood Hungama, "When KGF was made we were not even thinking of a Hindi version. It was done at the last minute and sold to Excel for peanuts. Now things are very different. The investment for the sequel is at least 7 times more than the original. Of course, Excel has had to pay a lot more this time. Isn’t that fair?”

There were many other production houses in competition, but the price quoted by Excel was the topmost, and hence KGF makers offered the Hindi rights of the upcoming sequel to Farhan and Ritesh's Production house.
