Devbrat Patnaik

Sony TV's popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan is nearing successful completion of its 11th season. The journey this season has been emotional as well as spectacular with as many as four contestants returning home as Crorepatis. In the penultimate episode of the finale week named Vijay Vishwas, an engineering graduate Abinash Kumar Mohanta who hails from Baripada in Odisha, made it to the hot seat.

For Big B, he played a 'Shandaar' game and won the hearts of all.

Abinash actually played like a genius and comfortably reached the Rs 6.40 lakh mark. Without using any of his lifelines, he answered questions like- When returning from Lanka after emerging victorious, who did Lord Rama send ahead as his messenger to Angad? How many persons with the surname Patnaik have served Odisha as Chief Minster? What does the 'R' stand in the name of the educational organization NCERT? How many coastal states are there in India? and many...

On the 12th question for Rs 12.50 lakh, he used his first lifeline, even though he knew the correct answer to that question. When he used 'flip the question' lifeline, the question was changed and the new question was about the players who scored the first century from India on foreign soil.

To answer this question, Abinash took audience poll but unfortunately, the audience answered it incorrectly and Avinash going with the audience, made a blunder of his life. While the correct answer to the question was Syed Mushtaq Ali, maximum audience voted for Lala Amarnath. Ultimately, he had to settle for Rs 3.20 lakh and leave the show despite having two more lifelines.

Nevertheless, Odisha's only contestant in KBC 11 was brilliant and impressed everyone.
