Kareena Kapoor Confirmed As ‘Arundhati’ In Anushka Shetty’s Remake?

In 2009 when Anusha Shetty played the titular role of “Arundhati” in a Telugu hit film, she received a lot of appreciation and sort of established her as a leading actress. The Bollywood filmmakers wanted to make a remake of the movie after that and two names continuously cropped up for the role of “Arundhati.”

These were the names of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma. Sonu Sood who had played the role of the lead antagonist in the movie was also approached to reprise the same role in the remake. He had even mentioned that the director of the original film, Kodi Ramakrishna was eager to direct the remake but did not do so due to language barriers. However, the venture did not move forward for this and that reason and unfortunately the rights with the makers for the remake also expired.

Two Filmmakers Are Keen To Cast Kareena As Arundhati

According to latest reports, two filmmakers who have been in the industry since long years have now taken the rights for making the remake in Hindi. As before the choice is either Kareena or Anushka. Now the film is being made finally after almost a decade and is still relevant because the subject of “Arundhati” has a period feel.

Now it would be interesting to see whether Kareena Kapoor Khan who is the first choice for the title role accepts the proposal or not. She is currently doing a few projects after taking a break post her delivery and is also as one of the judges in “Dance India Dance” show on Zee TV. If the story interests her she will definitely do it.

On the other hand, Anushka Sharma had earlier denied the project due to busy schedules. But now she has not signed any movie after the release of “Zero.” So, if Kareena refuses the project, Anushka may most probably lap it up.
