‘Kantara’ actress Rukmini Vasanth alerts public about fake impersonator, police respond

Kannada actor Rukmini Vasanth, known for her stellar performance in Kantara Chapter 1, has sounded an alert against a fraudster impersonating her online. Taking to her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Rukmini shared a phone number and cautioned fans not to respond to messages from it, stating that strict legal action is being initiated against those involved.

Actor Exposes Fake Impersonator

In her detailed post, Rukmini shared the number 9445893273, revealing that the person using it had been reaching out to people under her name. “It has come to my attention that an individual using this number is impersonating me and contacting people under false pretenses,” she wrote.

Clarifying her stand, Rukmini stated, “This number does not belong to me, and any messages or calls from it are fake. Please do not engage with such messages. This act of impersonation is a cybercrime, and appropriate action is being taken against those involved.”

Bengaluru Police Responds

Soon after her post, Bengaluru City Police acknowledged her warning and urged the public to stay cautious. The police replied, “These are fraudster calls and messages. Please don’t share any personal information and report the matter to the nearest police station for necessary action.”

Busy Year for the Rising Star

Rukmini has had a packed year with notable roles in Ace and Madharaasi. Her latest blockbuster, Kantara Chapter 1, became the highest-grossing Kannada film to date. She will next be seen in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups and Prashanth Neel’s Telugu film alongside Jr NTR.
