As the countdown begins for BTS’s highly anticipated return, Jungkook is stepping into this new phase with calm focus and quiet intention.
Ahead of the group’s fifth full album release on March 20, the singer spoke to Rolling Stone UK, offering rare insight into how his everyday life has changed since returning from military service.
Gone is the rush of packed schedules. Jungkook says he is now prioritising balance, health, and routines that feel sustainable rather than overwhelming.

A New Relationship With Food
One of the most noticeable changes has been Jungkook’s approach to eating. He revealed that he currently eats just one meal a day, a routine that has surprisingly become comforting. Rather than feeling restrictive, the practice gives him something to look forward to and a sense of accomplishment once the day’s meal is complete. For Jungkook, this simple habit has become a daily reward and a way to stay mindful.
Movement as Self-Connection
Exercise has also taken on a deeper meaning in his life. Jungkook shared that activities like badminton, bowling, and jogging are now part of his regular routine. These moments, he explained, are not about pushing limits but about focusing solely on himself. Showing up consistently, even in small ways, matters more to him now than intense effort.
How the Military Changed His Perspective
Reflecting on his time in the military, Jungkook admitted it completely altered how he views time. He has since made conscious efforts to avoid habits that harm his body, including reducing alcohol consumption. Simple, repeatable routines have become non-negotiable, as he believes steady consistency outweighs short bursts of extreme discipline.
Learning to Care for Himself
Beyond physical health, Jungkook acknowledged an emotional shift as well. He shared that he is still learning to truly love and care for himself, recognising that self-care is not dramatic or grand but built through daily choices.

Creativity Reignited
Being away from music during military service only deepened Jungkook’s passion for creating. The forced pause reminded him why music matters so deeply to him. As BTS prepares to reunite, Jungkook looks forward to growth, dance, artistic freedom, and reconnecting with fans — signing off with a heartfelt message: he misses them and is excited for what lies ahead.
