Actress and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan today demanded support from the Indian government for the entertainment industry. In her address to the speaker of the upper house of the Indian Parliament, the actress alleged that due to the involvement of few people in drug racket everyone is defaming the entire industry.

Jaya Bachchan Reminds Government How Entertainment Industry Comes Forward During Crisis

In her address earlier today, the wife of superstar Amitabh Bachchan said, "I am very emotional and there are too many things to say. But you are not giving me enough time and opportunity to speak. Sir, I think the government must stand by the entertainment industry. Because the entertainment industry always comes forward to help the government in whatever good work that the government takes up. They come and speak for them. They support them. If there is a national calamity they come forward. They give money. They give their services."

She further added, "I think it is very very important that the government must support this industry. And not kill it just because there are a few people you cannot tarnish the image of the entire industry. This industry brings international name and recognition also apart from the political people."

Jaya Bachchan Indirectly Slams BJP MP and Actor Ravi Kishan

The senior actress indirectly even slammed the BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan for his address against the entertainment industry a day ago in Lok Sabha. In his speech, the superstar of Bhojpuri film industry said, "Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended, NCB is doing very good work. I urge central govt to take strict action, apprehend the culprits soon, give them befitting punishment & bring an end to conspiracy of neighboring countries."

Replying to the same, Jaya Bachchan said, "I was really embarrassed and ashamed. But yesterday one of our members in Lok Sabha who is from the industry spoke against the film industry. I am not taking his name. Its a shame. Jis Thaali mein khate hain ussi mein chhed karte hai. The industry needs protection and support from the government."

According to reports Rhea Chakraborty has taken names of some leading Bollywood stars in the drug racket. Already a few actresses from the Kannada film industry are in the custody of the police.
