Adding fresh momentum to the excitement, Vijay Sethupathi has officially confirmed his association with the film. The actor has revealed that he will be seen in a brief but impactful role, marking another collaboration with Rajinikanth after Petta (2019).

“To Be With Him, I Get to Learn a Lot”

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vijay spoke candidly about why he agreed to the cameo, citing deep admiration for the superstar.

"To be with him, I get to learn a lot. There is so much to learn from a superstar who has survived in this industry for so many decades," he said, underscoring Rajinikanth’s enduring influence.

A Cast That Keeps Expanding

Earlier reports suggest that Yogi Babu, Vinayakan and Suraj Venjaramoodu have confirmed their roles. Meghana Raj Sarja, Shivarajkumar and SJ Suryah are also said to be on board, while Mohanlal’s involvement remains a rumour. Meanwhile, reports also suggest Tollywood King Nagarjuna playing antagonist in the sequel and Balakrishna will be seen in a special role.

There is further chatter about a special dance appearance by Nora Fatehi and possible roles for Mithun Chakraborty, Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan and Mirnaa. Much like Jailer (2023), the sequel reportedly aims for a strong pan-Indian presence by uniting stars from multiple film industries.

Familiar Faces Behind the Scenes

Backed by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 reunites much of the original technical crew. Anirudh returns as the music composer, while cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R Nirmal are also said to be part of the sequel, ensuring continuity in style and scale.

Release Plans

Currently in production, Jailer 2 is slated to arrive in theatres on June 12 this year, setting the stage for another high-octane chapter in the franchise.
