It’s official, the Mummy franchise is coming back from the tomb! Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, the beloved duo who defined adventure cinema in the late ‘90s, are reuniting for The Mummy 4, according to a report by Variety. The film will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the dynamic duo behind Ready or Not (2019) and the Scream revival series.
Fans around the world are losing their minds over the news after all, it’s been 24 years since Fraser and Weisz last shared the screen as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell in The Mummy Returns (2001).
A Franchise That Defined Adventure
The Mummy (1999) reboot was a blockbuster hit that turned Fraser and Weisz into global icons. Set in 1930s Egypt, the film followed an intrepid adventurer and a brave archaeologist battling a resurrected Egyptian priest. The sequel cemented its cult status, though Weisz skipped the third installment, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008).
A 2017 attempt to revive the franchise with Tom Cruise failed to capture the same magic but this reunion promises a true return to form.

Back From the Tomb
With the original duo back and a talented new team at the helm, The Mummy 4 might just resurrect the thrilling charm that made fans fall in love the first time around.
