Akshay Kumar celebrated his 52nd birthday quietly with his family but offered a birthday gift to his fans by announcing a new movie titled, “Prithviraj.” As the name suggests, the flick is based on the life of the last Hindu ruler of India, Prithviraj Chavan who foiled several invasions by Mohammed of Ghor. Eventually, it will be the first historical role of the “Khiladi” Kumar. So how does the superstar manage to stay so fit at this age?

Akshay Believes In Being Naturally Fit

For Akshay Kumar being naturally fit is the key to long-lasting good health and fitness.  Instead of relying on supplements, protein shakes or powders for bulking up muscles, he relies more on building body naturally. Akshay wakes up early in the morning and starts his work out that is a mix of kickboxing, basketball, lots of martial arts, yoga, and swimming. He believes that mixing workout breaks monotony.

Smoking and drinking alcohol is a total no-no for Akshay who also refrains from drinking coffee in excess. Recently during an interview for Bombay Times Akshay said, "If you smoke or drink, you will not have the stamina to work out." The “Mission Mangal” producer and actor is so much against these vices that he has made even his office a strict no-smoking zone.

For the star who believes that you are what you eat, “Ghar ka khana” is the best way to remain healthy. Akshay says, “Whatever your mother makes at home is the best." He is a strong believer in Ayurveda and the haldiwala doodh that increases immunity. The aging actor has been praised time and again for his fitness and discipline as he is quite strict when it comes to his fitness and routine.

The father-of-two has a no late shooting rule and prefers to start working in the early morning hours. Even if he had to attend a party, Akshay makes it a point to leave early because he has to be in bed by 9 pm.
