Boman, who was earlier a waiter then a photographer, made his debut at 44 in Rajkumar Hirani’ Munna Bhai. He was seen playing the shrewd medical college dean J.C Asthana and grabbed the audiences’ and filmmakers' attention. He depicted the character's contrasting trait as a mean professor and a loving father with ease which proved that even if it was late, he was made for the movies.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi

Boman Irani is known for his perfect comedy timing, layering it with romance in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi proves his acting expertise. Irani portrayed the role of a middle-aged Parsi man named Farhad Pastakia with his typical Parsi accent. In a romantic comedy, a genre he was never seen before in, he played the lead who is a man in his late 40s in love with fun and zest. This role made it clear that the Parsi actor can nail any genre effortlessly.

Khosla Ka Ghosla!

Khosla Ka Ghosla! was a mystery drama film released in the same year Boman made his debut. The film revolved around a middle-class man who was trying to get his land back from an evil property dealer played by Boman Irani. With this movie, he changed the way villains or antagonists are portrayed in Hindi cinema, Irani started his own league of 'bad guys', who make the audience laugh while making the hero’s life terrible.

3 Idiots

If we talk about the actor’s best roles, how can Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe not be on the list? He embodied Virus’ body language and accent which was the show-stealer in the movie. His transformation from an unlikeable professor to one who appreciates the students who are different from the others made it an iconic character who is still loved by movie buffs. The scene where he takes a nap while shaving and wakes up with a shaved mustache speaks of his comic brilliance.
