Mumbai: Actor-Comedian Sunil Grover has tickled the funny bones of many with his popular character as Guthi in The Kapil Sharma Show. The actor was also liked by the audience for his character, Dr Mashoor Gulati, in the popular comedy show. However, Sunil was able to secure a special place in the hearts of show watchers with his Guthi character. He was also seen portraying several other 'female' characters in the show including Rinku Devi by which the actor rose to fame. But, the actor recently spilled the beans hinting that he was waiting for an opportunity to step out of the recurrence as a woman by putting on sarees and other female clothes.

After leaving The Kapil Sharma Show, fans are counting days to witness the reunion of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover once again on the show. Even, many speculated the duo would be seen soon. On April 2, Sunil wished Kapil on his birthday which sparked speculation about the Kapil-Sunil reunion. But this never happened.

On the work front, Sunil will be next seen in Amazon Prime Video series, Tandav. With this web-series, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the actor-comedian is turning a new page in his career. Apart from being popular as a funny artiste in the country, he will be proving himself as a serious, drama actor.

In Tandav, Sunil will be seen playing the character of personal assistant to Saif Ali Khan- who is a power hungry politician.

During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor spilled the beans on what attracted him to the character and why he said yes to taking it up.

"Not playing a woman for a change was a significant pull. I am happy to be a part of Tandav because I have worked with Ali Abbas Zafar before. It is an interesting setup and I was offered this story. I was told I will have to wear men's clothes and play a character who stays a man throughout. So I agreed, let's do it," said Sunil.

Earlier during an interview with Hindustan Times, Sunil said that that he loved 'becoming a woman' for his shows. "It’s more like hiding your identity. I’m not very comfortable with myself because I don’t think I’m an interesting person. I like disguises because then, I forget myself, and become someone else. I really love becoming a woman somehow. Just make me wear a saree and I’ll be happy."

However, the actor admitted that dressing up as a woman was extremely tough especially the kaajal (eyeliner)-women wear. “The thing just won’t come off”.

Though earlier Sunil had proved himself as a good actor as a male in different movies including Gabbar Is Back, Bharat, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh among several others, the actor was much liked in his female getup.

Sunil will be next seen in Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai- starring Salman Khan apart from Tandav. Certainly, the actor will once again impress his fans with the best portrayal of his character in the upcoming web-series.
