Sangati Jogwar

For Pankaj Tripathi, the journey to stardom has been full of struggles and challenges. But his trust in his talent and instincts has paid off. Finally, the actor is now being picked up for a lead role in a movie titled “Kaagaz” which will be directed by the “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja” director Satish Kaushik and produced by Salman Khan Productions. The movie is a biopic of Lal Bihari, a farmer declared dead on the paper while he was still alive.

Despite starting with Ram Gopal Varma with “Run” and “Omkara” with Vishal Bharadwaj in 2004, it took almost a decade for Pankaj Tripathi to get recognized as a powerful actor and more than 15 years to get a lead role. The “Mirzapur” actor bagged National Award in 2017 for his role in the movie “Newton” and from then on the career of this superb actor has continued to escalate. Since then most of his movies have been big hits and he has been appreciated for his roles which were very important parts of the stories.

Pankaj Never Believed He Could Be A Hero

For Pankaj, getting good roles and regular work was enough. He never imagined that such wonderful things could happen to him. At the time when he entered the film industry, the concept of a hero was way different from what it is today. The “Gangs of Wasseypur” film series in 2012 gave him the major breakthrough and brought him into the forefront. Ever since then, he has been appreciated by critics for his versatility in Fukrey, Masaan, Bareily Ki Barfi, Nil Battey Sannata, Newton, Stree, and Fukrey Returns.

But it was after 40 films and 60 television shows that he managed to bag the role of a hero in a movie. Pankaj Tripathi said that he is humbled with the respect and love he has received from everyone. Even today he chooses his films carefully and only says yes to roles to which he can attune. Apart from “Kaagaz” Pankaj Tripathi will be next seen in “The Kargil Girl” with Janhvi Kapoor, “Mimi” with Kriti Sanon, “83” with Ranveer Singh, and “Ludo” helmed by Anurag Basu. The versatile actor will also return to the small screen to reprise his role in the second season of famous web series “Mirzapur.”

Interestingly, Pankaj Tripathi is also expected to get an international launch in 2020 as he will be featuring Chris Hemsworth in “Dhaka.”
