Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives Controversy: Madhur Bhandarkar Hits Back Sarcastically At Karan Johar's Clarification

Karan Johar is all set to launch a new franchise on Netflix called Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives on November 27. But this has triggered a fight between another leading Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar and Dharma Productions' boss.

Earlier almost a week ago the director of the Fashion movie urged Dharma Productions and Karan not to use the title Bollywood Wives as he has already registered it for himself.

In his tweet, Madhur wrote, "Dear @karanjohar U & @apoorvamehta18 had asked me 4 the title #BollywoodWives for web, which I refused, as my project is underway. It is Morally & ethically wrong u to tweak it to #TheFabulousLivesofBollywoodWives. Pls, do not dent my project. I humbly request u to change the title."

On not receiving a response from Dharma, Madhur went ahead and asked the Film Guild of India whether it has made the said title available to Dharma Productions. The Guild replied that they have not given it to anyone. Madhur shared a snapshot of the mail on Twitter.

He wrote, "When ‘IMPPA’ asked ‘Film Guild of India’ whether @DharmaMovies was given the Title #BollywoodWives where Dharma is a Member. The GUILD replied that they had outrightly rejected the same. That shows Dharma has blatantly tweaked and misused our Title #BollywoodWives. Check."

The Chandni Bar director made yet another tweet yesterday after he did not get any response from Karan Johar. He wrote, "Notices send to @DharmaMovies since 19th Nov, 2 from (IMPPA),1 (IFTDA)& 2 Notices of (FWICE )all r Official Bodies of the Film Industry, on misusing & tweaking of my Film Title #BollywoodWives...there is NO official response yet to any of the above Associations from Dharma. "

Karan Johar Penned Clarification; Madhur Bhandarkar Hits Back

After such repeated tweets, Karan Johar finally came out with a clarification on Twitter. He penned an elaborate note assuring Madhur that the concept and theme of his series are entirely different. Also, Karan said that they are promoting the series with #FabulousLives. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai directed tried to assure Madhur Bhandarkar that the series will in no way exploit the latter's work.

But Madhur does not seem to be happy with this clarification. Although he has accepted to move ahead and not take the issue further, his savage reply to Karan's post is an indication enough of how bad he is feeling about the entire thing. And Madhur has sarcastically put all his feelings in his post.

The upcoming Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives installment will star yesteryear Bollywood actress Neelam Kothari, Bhavana Pandey, Seema Khan, and Maheep Kapoor. Bhavana Pandey is the wife of actor Chunky Pandey and mother of Bollywood actress Ananya Panday.

Maheep Kapoor is the wife of Sanjay Kapoor whereas Seema Khan is the wife of Sohail Khan. Together these four women will unravel their lives as wives of celebs in this show. Karan Johar even shared a teaser of the same earlier this month on his Instagram account.

He introduced the series, "Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives. These girls have sass, spunk, and chutzpah! Watch them unravel and travel...They Have Fabulous lives but there is so much more than what meets the eye! #FabulousLives. Streaming from 27th November on Netflix."
