Ekta Kapoor was recently conferred upon the much-deserved Padma Shri Award. The boss of the Indian television industry has been an inspiration for many new producers, directors, actors and actresses. She has not only changed the face of Indian television but also has introduced lots of actors and artists into the business. Ekta Kapoor has been the major contributor pioneering the evolution of the television industry in India.
Despite being the daughter of legendary hero Jeetendra, things were never handed on a platter to this star-kid. She had her struggle, difficulties to overcome and the determination to succeed.
Started As An Ad Intern At 15
Ekta started at the young age of 15 years as an intern for ad and feature filmmaker Kailash Surendranath. With the financial backing from her father, she then turned into a producer for the television and film industry. From 1995 her banner Balaji Telefilms Limited has been at the back of more than 130 Indian soap operas. Some of these serials have given big names like Vidya Balan, Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Mouni Roy, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sakshi Tanwar and more to the film industry.
Her prominent television shows include “Hum Paanch,” “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” “ Kasautii Zindagaii Kay,” “ Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki,” “ Pavitra Rishta,” “Kumkum Bhagya,” “Kundali Bhagya,” “ Jodha Akbar,” “Bade Acche Lagte Hai,” “ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein,” and many more. Ekta Kapoor also has produced many Bollywood movies including “Krishna Cottage,” “ Kucch To Hai,” “ Kyo Kii… Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta,” and more. Her breakthrough came with “Shootout at Lokhandwala,” which also starred her brother Tusshar Kapoor.
After that, she came up with major hits like “Love Sex Aur Dhokha,” “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai,” Half Girlfriend,” and “Shor in the City.” This Czarina of Indian television industry also until now has introduced 40 web series through the ALTBalaji app, started a media training school –Institute of Creative Excellence, and launched a fashion series EK Label.
Ekta Kapoor who at 44 is still single became a mother last year through surrogacy. Recently she revealed the face of her son Ravie on his first birthday.
